About

Following my return to biking in 2003 my interests have been getting faster and more serious.  Midlife crisis maybe?

That bike though wasn't suitable for me - with my large frame and not being as supple as I once was, the bike was agony.

My first dabblings with "tuned" bikes were the piper exhaust on GS1000 and the like.  In 1985 things got more serious with a Stan Stevens tuned YPVS.  That bike was the reason I gave up bikes - one bottle lost.  Coming out of a bend at Lyme Regis and lifting the front at 85mph whilst still cranked over convinced me that perhaps bikes weren't for me any more.

A Triumph Daytona T595 was next.  Awesome but the engine went bang after 6 weeks!  It was fixed and I enjoyed that bike - great sound especially with underseat pipes.  In my opinion one of the best looking bikes ever made.

At this time I discovered sprint and drag racing (Thanks Boss).  I tried racing the "T5" but I was afraid of damaging it.

I never stopped being a biker - I just didn't have a bike.  Whenever I was driving I would wind down the window to listen the sound of big 4 strokes as they passed.

Next came a basket case FZR1000EXUP (Thanks Boss - anyone detecting a theme here?) which got me into spannering and gave me a bike to race without risking the Daytona.

I returned to bikes with a 750 slabsider as it had similar power and handling to bikes I had previously ridden.

Then I discovered the world of 200mph.org and then my biking life changed forever.....................

The FZR and T595 went to fund a Kawasaki zx12r.  A busa would have been a sensible choice some may think but I didn't find the "bus" a comfy bike and the zx has better brakes and handling.

It is less ugly too!

Then came a Yoshi system, power commander, KLEEN system removed, K&N and then visits to BigCC.  Result 176bhp at rear wheel, 101 ftlbs torque.  Ooh err Mrs!

The gearbox went bang at Woodbridge.  Fixed by ..........................Boss!

The along came the Bandit.  A Gsxr swap as P/X for the ZX.  Ebay, swap and sell became a bandit project.  A drag bandit chassis, bandit motor and a turbo kit from Dave Dunlop started me off.  In 2010 it runs and burns my leg on exhaust, I can't get exhaust routing right.
